Denim Jeans

Most of us like wearing jeans as part of our casual wear but its important to find the right ones.
Just because a certain cut is in fashion doesnt necessarily mean that those jeans are for you.

  • You need to make sure that they fit right, not too baggy. Key is to make sure that your jeans have just a 2% elastene in them.
  • Do not go by what size they are. You might be one size in one shop and a different size in another. Some designers do 'vanity' sizing to try and make women think that they are smaller than they are, so don't be caught out.
  • Big pockets on the bum tend to minimize/ balance out your bottom, especially great if you are a pear shape.
Apple shape
Bootcut jeans work well. Also you can have your pick of any shade of denim, the lighter the denim the curvier it will make your legs appear.

Pear shape
Hipster or lowrise jeans work well. Avoid light colour denim as that will draw emphasis to your bottom half.

Hourglass
Flared, Wide leg or Bootcut jeans works best. Try to stay away from jeans that have embellishment around the hips or bottom.

Boyish Frame
Low rise jeans work well. Also embellishment or detail around the hips and bum can help broaden your slim hips.

Be a Beach Babe

Don't want to bare all at the beach? Here's some fashion tips to help you feel fabulous no matter what your shape or size there is something for you!

Maxi dress
These hide a multitude of sins. So are generally good for all body shapes and sizes.

Kaftans

These are better suited for a woman who has a fuller figure. They help to give you more waist definition and if you feel you have 'bingo wings' it will disguise and flatter your upper arm.

Playsuits
Playsuits are more suited to the petite figure. Giving the illusion of curves and longer looking legs.

Sarongs
If you are pear-shaped its best to avoid these as it is hard to flatter your bottom with these. However if you have a boy-ish frame these are excellent for you!

Bikini's

Boyish shape
Its best to choose something like shorts for your bottom half to lengthen out your legs. And if you do not have what could be described as a generous chest, a push up bra would be most ideal for your top half to balance everything out to give you that desired hourglass figure.

Avoid anything that has no shape to it. It will just emphasise your boyish frame.

Pear Shape
Since you are bottom heavy, you need to balance everything out focusing on your top half.
Avoid high waisted bottoms and also avoid one piece swimsuits they can make you legs look shorter and bigger than they really are.

Hourglass
This body shape can pretty much get away with wearing any swimwear. If you have good assets up top avoid wearing bandeau's they can flatten them.

Top Heavy
Pick something with alot of support, perhaps a halter. But avoid those triangle shape bikini's as they will offer you no support.

Bigger than Average?

Here's some hints and tips of how to dress that fuller figure of yours:

  • Choose fabrics that drape over your curves, if it clings too much it can create a look that rather than curves shows bulges.
  • When choosing a bold colour to wear, match it with a darker colour to wear.
  • A Line, Wrap or empire dresses suit the fuller figure more.
  • Boot cut trousers are the best for the more rounder woman.
  • Baggy clothes to try and diguise your figure is never a good option can often lead you to looking bigger than  you really are.

Body Shapes

(The Four Main Body Shapes)

We all come in different shapes and sizes but more importantly we are all BEAUTIFUL!
The four main body shapes for women are shown in the above imagery:
  • Apple: where the distribution of your fat mainly lies on your waist. The top half of your body. Also known as being Top Heavy.
  • Pear: this is where your fat deposits itself around your thighs and buttocks. Also known as being Bottom Heavy.
  • Hour glass: this is when the breasts and the hips and aligned and the waist is smaller than them both.
  • Rectangle: Shoulder, hips and waist tend to be of the same size, fat deposits on both the waist and the bottom, however, you maintain slender arms and legs.
